Maple Hill Complex Volunteers

National Public Lands Day – 2020

Next Saturday, September 26, is NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY. We are thrilled to celebrate this day at Big Bear’s new trail system – the Maple Hills Complex. To date, we have completed just over 4 miles of this new trail system. This Saturday for NPLD, trails volunteers will be installing signs, cutting brush, and completing hand finishing work.

Many of our programs are shut down due to COVID-19 and the closure of the San Bernardino National Forest. Our staff and program managers are working hard to continue the work of maintaining trails. With the lifting of some restrictions, we are excited to open up the Maple Hill Complex project to volunteers. We will be able to expand this to the forest once it reopens. This is great news and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our programs, trails, and our Public Lands

Get ready for more volunteer opportunities!

Our program’s future new trails project, focused on the North Shore, is out to public comment! This will include a new trail connecting the major peaks of the area- Little Bear Peak, Delamar Peak, Bertha Peak to Gold Mountain. It will also include the minimum amount of connector trails so all communities in the valley can easily access it. If you would like to view it and/or post a comment, you may do so using this link.
