Corpsmember of the Month
Congratulations to the Southern California Mountains Foundation’s UCC Corpsmembers for the month of February!
From San Bernardino, we have John Ross Garcia, who says, “I am 19 years old from Fontana, California. I have been with the Urban Conservation Corps for six months, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with many different personalities and build strong teamwork skills. Working here has helped me feel more connected to nature, and I also appreciate that UCC offers paid trainings.”
From the Coachella site we have Juan Carrillo-Sandoval who has been an outstanding Corpsmember since joining the Corps, He is funny and easy to talk to. Here is a little more about Juan. “I am 21 years old and live in Coachella Valley, California. I have been with UCC for almost 6 months. I enjoy working with the UCC because of the opportunity to learn and grow and because I get to use the chainsaw. I believe others should join because it’s a great opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience, I have recommended a few people to the program since I joined. It has been good working with other Corpsmembers, they all help each other out. I like all the trainings we get to be a part of and that we get to use power tools like the Chainsaw and Auger.”
Thank you to each crew and Corpsmembers for showing up daily to make a difference in the community, you are greatly appreciated and we look forward each day to seeing all of your accomplishments!
