300 Tires Removed from Public Lands
The Southern California Mountains Foundation’s Urban Conservation Corps removed and recycled nearly 300 illegally dumped tires from U.S. Forest Service land. This site represents one of the most extensive illegal dumping areas our team has encountered on public lands. While removing 300 tires has made an important impact, it is only the beginning, and our crews will continue returning to the site to remove more waste and restore the landscape.
Projects like this not only protect our forests and wildlife, but also provide Urban Conservation Corpsmembers with valuable hands-on workforce experience that prepares them for careers in conservation, public service, and land management with agencies such as the Forest Service, cities, and county departments. Restoring our public lands takes commitment, teamwork, and community, and this is exactly the kind of work our Corpsmembers proudly take on.
