Spring into Service

As the snow begins to melt and the sunshine returns to the mountains, spring brings new opportunities to reconnect with the outdoors and give back to the landscapes we love. The Southern California Mountains Foundation offers many ways to volunteer throughout the season, from hiking trails and habitat restoration to educational programs and community engagement.

Whether you’re helping maintain beloved trails as they reopen, restoring native habitats by removing invasive species and planting pollinator-friendly plants, or welcoming visitors at the Big Bear Discovery Center, your time and energy make a lasting impact on our forests and wildlife.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• Big Bear Trails – Help maintain and restore our favorite hiking, biking and equine trails as they reopen after winter, a great way to get out and explore with like-minded people.

• Restoration & OHV Crews – Remove invasive plants, plant pollinator species, and support healthy wildlife habitats, help to keep popular OHV trails open with trail and fencing maintenance.

• Big Bear Discovery Center – Engage with visitors, share your knowledge of Big Bear, and assist with community programs and special events.
