Protecting Habitats & Public Lands

SCMF’s Urban Conservation Corps is helping protect sensitive habitat in the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument through restoration, cleanup, and visitor education. From April through June, UCC crews repaired 1 mile of fencing to help prevent unauthorized OHV access into protected areas.  Crews also installed educational and regulatory signs and hosted four outreach events focused on responsible recreation. Corpsmembers worked alongside Bureau of Land Management staff and Tribal monitors to remove approximately 60 tires and 100 pounds of debris from the dunes.

Made possible by CA State OHMVR (off highway motor Vehicle recreation) division.
