Celebrating Our Corpsmembers of the Month – July
Each month, the Urban Conservation Corps here with Southern California Mountains Foundation recognizes Corpsmembers who go above and beyond – those who demonstrate leadership, dedication, and a positive impact on their teams and communities. For July 2025, we’re proud to celebrate Byron Nativi from our San Bernardino crew and Angel Perez-Franco from our Coachella Valley crew as our Corpsmembers of the Month!
San Bernardino: Byron Nativi
At just 19 years old, Byron Nativi has already made a strong impression within the UCC. Known for his dependability and motivation, Byron consistently shows up ready to work – whether it’s day or night – and never hesitates to go the extra mile, even staying late when needed.
When asked what he enjoys most about being part of the UCC, Byron shared, “I get to learn more about the job and it also helps me with school.” He encourages others to join the program, highlighting the value of hands-on experience and opportunities to earn certifications that open doors to future careers.
Byron also appreciates the sense of teamwork at UCC, saying, “It’s good working with corpsmembers when they’re chill and hard working.” His positive attitude and willingness to help others make him an outstanding role model for his peers.
Coachella Valley: Angel Perez-Franco
From our Coachella Valley crew, Angel Perez-Franco, 21, has been a dedicated member of the Urban Conservation Corps on and off for four years – and his impact speaks for itself. Angel is known for his reliability, hard work, and contagious positivity. He shows up on time, approaches every assignment with focus, and is always willing to step in to help his team.
For Angel, UCC has been both an opportunity and an experience for personal growth. “I enjoy it here because we get to learn new skills and be a better person,” he explains. Angel encourages others to join the program because “it helps build a better future and meet new people.”
When talking about his team, Angel’s appreciation shines through: “Amazing – we all get along and help each other out.” His leadership, kindness, and willingness to teach others have made him an invaluable part of the Coachella Valley crew.
Thank You, Byron and Angel!
We’re proud to honor Byron and Angel for their outstanding contributions and dedication to the Urban Conservation Corps. Their work ethic, positive attitudes, and commitment to growth embody what the UCC is all about – building stronger communities, empowering young people, and shaping brighter futures.
Congratulations, Byron and Angel, and thank you for everything you bring to the team!
