SCMF Seeks Public input on OHV State Grants

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif., March 2, 2026 — The Southern California Mountains Foundation is seeking comments from the public on two preliminary grants submitted to the State of California to fund off-highway vehicle (OHV) restoration on the San Bernardino National Forest and lands managed by the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission. Draft applications, based on public and staff feedback given in February, seek to restore land damaged by OHV’s by means of equipment, seeding, planting, fencing, and careful placement of interpretive signage in areas that are already legally closed to OHV use.

Full proposals can be read at California State Parks’ OHV website at: http://www.ohv.parks.ca.gov. The public review period will be open from March 3, 2026, to May 4, 2026. You can find helpful guidance by selecting “Public Review Instruction” from their menu. Comments are required to be submitted to California State Parks via their website under the “Grants”.

The Foundation will review and consider all submitted public comments and then submit their final grant applications by June 1, 2026. Digital copies are additionally available by contacting Linda Stamer. lstamer@mountainsfoundation.org

The Southern California Mountains Foundation has maintained a successful partnership with the San Bernardino National Forest and the Coachella Valley Conservation Commission for several years and has participated in multiple restoration projects on lands managed by these agencies.
