Restoring Pinnacles: Celebrating National Public Lands Day with Yamaha

Each year, National Public Lands Day brings communities together to care for the forests, trails, and open spaces we all share. This year, the Southern California Mountains Foundation was proud to once again partner with Yamaha to celebrate the occasion with a day of hands-on restoration at the Pinnacles OHV Staging Area in the San Bernardino National Forest.

A Day of Action at Pinnacles

With Yamaha staff and volunteers joining forces with SCMF and the U.S. Forest Service, the day was filled with meaningful work that left a visible impact:

  • Repainting signs to keep information clear and accessible for visitors
  • Cleaning up facilities and ensuring the site remains welcoming to all
  • Planting native species along the trails to restore habitat and prevent erosion
  • OHV demonstrations to highlight safe and sustainable recreation practices

The Power of Partnership

We are especially grateful for Yamaha’s continued commitment to public lands. Each year, they bring volunteers out, amplifying the work that can be done in a single day. Over the years, this partnership has restored multiple sites – making recreation areas healthier and more enjoyable for everyone.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

National Public Lands Day is a tradition of gratitude and action. Each project completed is a step toward healthier forests, stronger partnerships, and a community that values its public lands.

We’re proud to celebrate another successful day of restoration, and we look forward to carrying on this tradition in the years ahead. Together, we’re ensuring that the San Bernardino National Forest remains a place where recreation, conservation, and community thrive side by side.
