Winter Activities at the Big Bear Discovery Center

Snow has covered Big Bear, creating the perfect winter wonderland. Visitors from all over Southern California come up to the mountains to take advantage the various recreation activities; snowy hikes, skiing and boarding, sledding, and snowshoeing of course! The Big Bear Discovery Center is your gateway to adventure and discovery in the San Bernardino National Forest. Visit the Discovery Center to get forest information, passes, and permits. While here, walk around to view displays, stop at the naturalist desk and have your nature questions answered, or join in on one of the weekend programs. The Discovery Center offers year-round activities for all ages. The winter brings some of our favorite visitors to the forest- bald eagles! Volunteer to help the USFS count the bald eagles wintering on the San Bernardino National Forest. All volunteer eagle counts meet at the Discovery Center between 8-8:30am. Please dress warm and bring your own…
