New Job Openings at the Big Bear Discovery Center

Southern California Mountains Foundation Job Opportunities Big Bear, Calif.,  April 21, 2017 – The Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF) is seeking 9 highly motivated and energetic people to assist with interpretive and education programs at the Big Bear Discovery Center and throughout the San Bernardino National Forest.  These jobs are being offered through SCMF’s Urban Conservation Corps (UCC) which offers young men and women (18-25 year olds) the chance to serve in the local mountains and work in environmental conservation settings that increase their job readiness. Current employment opportunities include an Environmental Education and Program Coordinator, a Forest Resource Monitor, a Customer Service Representative, a Children’s Forest Site Leader, Discovery Center Custodian, and multiple Corpsmembers to lead nature walks and eco-tours.  We also are recruiting individuals’ ages 18-25 years old to join our Americorps program, based out of San Bernardino, to perform forest restoration work. Cesar Chavez Day

Cesar Chavez Day Observed at local Bobby Vega Park San Bernardino, Calif. – March 22, 2017 -- The Southern California Mountains Foundation (SCMF) is pleased to announce that it will be celebrating the legacy of Cesar Chavez Day by planting a memorial garden at the local Bobby Vega Park in San Bernardino. Since 1992 the Mountains Foundation has worked to inspire and engage individuals from all walks of life in environmental citizenship.  Stacy Gorin, Executive Officer, Southern California Mountains Foundation states, “We believe that connecting communities to our public lands is key to their survival.  Through the Southern California Mountains Foundation’s six programs and an army of volunteers, we work to steward the places you love to play and provide a workforce development program for underserved youth in conservation based fields.” On March 31, we will be celebrating Cesar Chavez day, while also honoring one of our own, Bobby Vega, whom…
