The Southern California Mountains Foundation Off Highway Vehicle Safety and Education Program is making its rounds in Southern California.  "Education booths are set up at various high volume functions to help us spread the word on responsible motorized vehicle recreation on public lands", says Rick Lavello, program coordinator. This week you can find Rick and his volunteers at the L.A. County Fair where he is spreading educational messages to the public and various groups of children.  During the weekend of September 15-17, the educational trailer will move over to the Sand Sport Super Show at the Orange County Fairgrounds to meet with Off Highway Vehicle enthusiasts.  On the weekend of September 30th-October 1st Rick will take his program to the Offroad Expo in Pomona.

The program emphasizes the need to stay on authorized routes to prevent resource damage. He and his volunteers inform the public on where they can safely ride.  "Protecting nature while enjoying it is the key to a sustainable OHV program", says Rick.  To get involved with our volunteer program or for more information please visit our webpage. http://mountainsfoundation.org/programs/off-highway-vehicles
