Announces Season 12 of Music in the Mountains

We are pleased to announce our 2017 summer concert season at the outdoor Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater.  The series will feature the best classic rock and country tribute shows available nationally with a six-show schedule.  Season passes, premium tickets, and general admission tickets are on sale at MountainsFoundation.org and two walk up sales locations.  Presenting sponsor Big Bear Vacations returns to support Season 12 of the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser.

“We’re excited to launch this summer’s schedule and thank our new and returning sponsors who are joining us in raising money this season for the health and sustainability of our public lands through the power of this concert series,” shared Stacy Gorin, Southern California Mountains executive officer.   “Our schedule is packed with 6 new shows and returning favorites featuring classic rock and country tributes offering great outdoor family-friendly entertainment for all of our valued returning and new guests .”

The Southern California Mountains Foundation’s mission to mobilize individuals to inspire and engage in environmental citizenship remains rock solid.  We believe connecting communities to public lands is the key to their survival.  The Mountains Foundation works to bridge the funding gap from declining public land agency budgets and add value to our local mountains through stewarding visitor experiences with the efforts of more than 700 trained volunteers.

Music in the Mountains proceeds will continue to benefit the Mountains Foundation’s six powerful programs that focus on conservation, recreation, and education programs on the San Bernardino National Forest; many benefitting the Big Bear Valley.  

Tickets prices represent all six concerts and are available online at MountainsFoundation.org.   Each show will feature opening and headliner bands; with pricing presented below:
Adult premium seat               $48         Teen general admission (13-17)  $27
Adult general admission        $37         12 and under FREE
Teen premium seat (13-17)   $38                                 

Season passes for all six concerts are on sale at a discount for a premium seat package at $265 and a general admission ticket package at $200.00.  Passes are available online and at walk up sales locations.  Parking is not included but available for purchase in a six-season package. 

Tickets may be purchased at two walk-up locations:  Big Bear Visitors Bureau, 630 Bartlett Road, Big Bear Lake; open 7 days 9am to 5pm; and, Big Bear Vacations, 41693 Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake, open 7 days; 9am to 4pm.   All ticket options, parking and season passes are available at these locations.  In addition, a locals’ discount for local full-time residents, active and retired military, first responders- fire and police, and Mountains Foundation volunteers is available at $30 adult general admission for all six concerts with proof of ID. An online option is not available for this discount. 

All seating will be available on a first-come basis.  General admission guests must bring their own low-profile beach chairs for the open and designated seating areas.  Music-loving dogs on leash are welcome and admitted free.  Food and beverages will be available for sale.  No outside beverages (except sealed bottled water) are allowed in accordance with state ABC license regulations.  

Parking and ticket gates open at 5:00pm; all concerts begin at 6:00pm.    

Members of the nonprofit Southern California Mountains Foundation will have early access from Noon to 3pm to reserve their seats prior to the gates officially opening at 5pm, for all concert dates.  A special $20 Music in the Mountains concert membership is available at the time of ticket purchase; one per family is required to enter early. 

Premium parking in the Discovery Center lot is sold separately on a first-come basis for all events at $20 per vehicle; per event.  Passes may be purchased online and at walk up locations while supplies last. 

Free parking will be available in the Meadows Edge trailhead parking lot; located ¼ mile west of the Discovery Center entrance.  A free shuttle will run from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Handicap parking will be available at the Discovery Center to a limited number of cars on a first-come basis at no charge with state-approved placard or license plate on vehicle; thereafter, additional handicap parking will be available at $20 each vehicle subject to availability.

On Saturday, June 24, 2017, Kenny Metcalf returns with his debut show, 'Elton & the Early Years Band' in full costume for a full-stage production of his Elton John tribute show, with special guest, The Amy Winehouse Experience featuring Mia Karter.  It's a night to pay tribute to the late Amy Winehouse and one of her many fans, Sir Elton John. Don't miss this celebration of two of the most iconic Brits on the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater stage.

Jim Curry, Tribute to Music of John Denver
with special guest, Taylor Made, Tribute to James Taylor

On Saturday, July 8, 2017, Music in the Mountains favorite Jim Curry returns with
A Tribute to the Music of John Denver,
with special debuting guest, Taylor Made, the James Taylor Tribute Band on the Discovery Center Amphitheater stage It's a night to pay tribute to the most iconic 70's music legends who raised our environmental awareness and commitment to take better care of our planet; an homage ​​to and celebration of the mission of the Southern California Mountains Foundation. 

July 22
China Grove, Tribute to Doobie Brothers

Ultimate Tribute to Bob Seger and Silver Bullet Band

On Saturday, July 22, 2017, two iconic 70's classic rock tribute bands debut at Music in the Mountains, China Grove (formerly Doobies Inc.), Tribute to Doobie Brothers, with special guest, Turn the Page, Ultimate Tribute to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater. ​Don't miss this total dance party celebrating Detroit/heartland rock 'n' roll!!

DSB, Next Best Thing to Journey
with special guest, Live from Earth,
Tribute to Pat Benatar


On Saturday, August 5, 2017, returning favorite DSB, Next Best Thing to Journey, returns to the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater, with special debuting guest, Live From Earth, Tribute to Pat Benatar.  It's a night of classic 80's rock featuring two of the most authentic 'next best thing' bands delivering the energy and sound of their iconic legends in their prime. 


August 19
James Garner's Tribute to Johnny Cash
with special guest, TBA


On Saturday, August 19, 2017, James Garner's Tribute to Johnny Cash debuts with special guest, (TBA) at the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater.  We're going country with a tribute that 'walks the line' and celebrates the life and music of the ‘Man in Black’ with strong conviction and stunning accuracy.

The Long Run, Experience the Eagles, co-headlining with Led Zepagain, Tribute to Led Zeppelin

On Saturday, September 2, 2017, returning favorites The Long Run, Experience the Eagles, co-headlines with Led Zepagain, Tribute to Led Zeppelin, on the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater stage.  We're closing the season with two of the most authentic 'next best thing' bands delivering the energy and sound of their iconic legends in their prime; one night; one stage, performing some of the best classic rock music ever written!
